Structural Timber Awards 2020

We are extremely delighted to receive the winner trophy for “Social Housing Project of the Year” at Structural Timber Awards 2020. The project “Hope Rise”, in true collaboration with Bristol City Council, Bristol Housing Festival & YMCA Bristol, has been designed as the first 100% affordable & zero-carbon housing scheme, built above existing car park in Chalks Road.

Using our unique design and high-quality housing modules, we have built 11 energy-positive, permanent new homes above car park whilst retaining parking spaces beneath. Because the development takes advantage of the air rights above council owned car park, the land cost has been removed - the first 100% socially rented development of its kind in the country.

Social value is c10% of contract amount which includes tenants to be “community builders” & local artist to complete a mural on the wall.

Overall, it is a pioneering environmental & socially focused development for young people in need of affordable housing, demonstrating new thinking to help solve housing crisis whilst providing beautiful, low carbon homes.
