ZED PODS RECEIVES A KING'S AWARD FOR ENTERPRISE

ZED PODS Limited has been honoured with a King's Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category.

The company is one of only 185 organisations nationally to receive this prestigious recognition in 2026. Announced on Wednesday 6 May, the Award acknowledges ZED PODS' outstanding contribution to innovation in the UK housing sector.

Founded in 2016 and employing 22 people, ZED PODS designs and builds podium-based, zero-carbon modular homes, specialising in unlocking sites previously considered unbuildable — including flood zones and urban car parks. The company previously received a King's Award for

Enterprise in Sustainable Development in 2024, making this its second royal honour in two years.

Dr Rehan Khodabuccus, Operations Director of ZED PODS Limited, said: "We are so pleased to receive this recognition for innovation. We work hard to deliver lasting change in the housing sector — change that genuinely improves people's lives. Our whole team, from board level to site, embraces an innovation-led approach, and this Award recognises the hard work that goes into delivering industry firsts and overcoming the very real hurdles that come with them.

"We chose to apply because we wanted to reward our hardworking employees with external recognition from such a well-known and prestigious body. To achieve this accolade proves that it is not just us and our clients who recognise their contribution — it is the King's Award too."
"The rigorous process behind this Award makes it all the more meaningful. It will strengthen our profile with clients and help us drive the business forward as market leaders in innovation and design — a stamp of excellence from a leading body that helps us showcase what we have built.
"We would encourage any organisation that exemplifies thought leadership, design excellence or innovation to apply. The internal and external benefits are extraordinary — even game-changing — particularly for SMEs. Walking into a client meeting as a King's Award holder builds trust and opens doors."

The King’s Awards for Enterprise — previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise—were renamed in 2023 to reflect His Majesty The King’s commitment to continuing the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II in celebrating exceptional UK businesses.

Now in its 60th year, the King’s Awards for Enterprise remain the UK’s most prestigious business accolades. Successful organisations may use the esteemed King’s Awards Emblem for the next five years, signalling excellence to customers, partners, and global markets.
