About the project
This development is part of the Moat Affordable Housing Association’s ambitious goals of building high quality, affordable homes for those in housing need in the South East of England. It also aims to create added value for existing residents in the area with improvements to landscaping, building quality and community. This will be a sustainable carbon neutral development.

The Existing Site
Existing building height is 3 stories with a large dual pitch roof.

Development Proposal
Moat Homes in collaboration with ZED PODS are proposing to demolish an existing building of poor quality which no longer adequately serves the needs of the community, and erect a high quality carbon neutral building on the same footprint, which will provide 12 spacious and accessible 1 bedroom 2 person flats, each with its own generous private amenity spaces. This scheme further improves the surrounding landscape by upgrading a communal garden with better connection to existing neighbouring context. By giving serious consideration of the window positions, there will be no overlooking into houses located to the west of the site. The building will be of a high architectural quality, and will use red brick cladding to reflect the surrounding context.
